Excellent hotel for short stay in Rome. Used to be a monastery but feels like a palace. Simple rooms but spotlessly clean. Air con worked well. Very friendly and helpfully staff, shout out to Brian and Steve. Breakfast was simple but adequate and filling. Lovely views from the breakfast terrace. Good transport links to central areas and station. Restaurants and shops close by. .
Spent a week At Domus Sessoriana in mid November. Room was as decribed, spacious, clean and warm with a mini fridge. Views from breakfast terrace are lovely and there was plenty to eat. You have to ask for items as it is not self service but there was plenty: Bread, cold meats, cheese, pastries, cereal, yoghurts, cake, apples, kiwis, oranges. It is in a residential area with buses and Metro a short stroll away though a park. Beautiful basilica still in use. Great to be able to stay somewhere different with cheerful and friendly staff.
Absolutely filthy, smelly, dirty and falling apart. Furniture and fittings old and decrepit and need throwing back into the skip they came out of. The whole place is like a film set that would be about a mental asylum institute from the 1930's. None of the photos on the hotel website or any travel company's sites actually show how the place really is. Basic is an understatement.
Returned today after 4 nights. A 3 star hotel this was not. I cannot even give 1 star for the room. I opened the door and my heart sank. Black marks up the walls, broken lampshade, holes around the door and on the shower, rock hard beds, rusty shower fittings and a broken toilet seat. A plug socket didn't work, air con didn't work, fan in bathroom didn't work and no wi fi signal. Continental breakfast, but its not self service, you go up to a table and ask for a croissant, a coffee and a bit of cheese and ham if you want it. Staff even have the cheek to have a cup out for tips. I wasnt expecting anything wow with this hotel so was expecting fairly basic, but it was less than that. I would say this is possibly a step up from a hostel, and that is only because we didn't have to share a room.
Location was fine, about a 20-25 min walk to the Colleseum. Staff were friendly enough but overall, very disappointed. The 1 star rating is literally for the location only.
False advertisement!! The room/hotel lacks many things that were in the ad. There is no wifi available in hotel rooms. When asking staff/reception about the wifi, they were very rude and said their website states the wifi is only available in the lobby… We booked on another booking website, not from their website directly, and it said rooms had free wifi, air conditioning (it did not even have an AC unit in the bedroom), and an airport shuttle. It had none of these things. We had a 10:30am flight out of Rome which is why we booked this place. When asking about the airport shuttle, they told us just to take a taxi for €50.
When asking about the AC, they came into our room and told us “it didn’t even feel that hot in our room” and they said that it was impossible for our room to be hot because the thermostat was broken anyways. Then they told us the hot water didn’t work either ?
The double bed was 2single beds lazily pushed together. Avoid this scam.
The rooms toilet were without ventilation, so it was like do it on the bed, very disgusting. The included breakfast was very cheep, no buffet self service, no waiter service; no eggs, no bacon, no potato, only pastries and flakes. One slice of cheap ham and cheese. No set up on the tables.
Basic hotel on a beautifull location. 10 minutes walk away from san giovani metro. Hotel is great with old detail and it's very clean. Lovely and nice helpfull people. Breakfast is ok on the roof terras with great view. Airco was also working well.
Fantastic stay, it's room are good, staff aabsolutely excellent. Location only 20 minutes walk to the colosseum and main ancient ruins. Metro 10 minutes away. Hotel fully recommended
